On Oct. 14, the Chula Vista Elementary School District held the Third Annual Parent Academy at Anne and William Hedenkamp Elementary.<\/p>\n
This 4-hour free event offers parents the opportunity to learn about a variety of tools, strategies, and resources to help their child succeed in school. Sessions include math, reading and writing, English language development, technology, Health and Wellness, Anti-Bullying, GATE, the arts, and many more.<\/p>\n
The Parent Academy encourages parents to play a more active role in their children’s education by preparing them to provide academic support and build strong relationships that promote positive outcomes for the whole family.<\/p>\n
Parent have a significant impact in their children’s lives, which is why the district’s professional development program for parents focuses on establishing the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary to help their children succeed.<\/p>\n
Parents are also encouraged to volunteer at school, participate in a parent club, or serve on any of the many district committees.<\/p>\n
