I was born in Warsaw, but during the Second World War, I happened to be in Lithuania, and there, after the German army invaded this country, I found myself in the Jewish ghetto of Kovno. For over two years I lived in the ghetto, and in it I went through almost all the departments of the Holocaust Hell. After an underground was formed in the ghetto I joined it, and after a time I fled from the ghetto as part of an organized escape, initiated and supervised by the underground staff, to the partisan forest. <\/em><\/p>\n

After the liberation I went my way. I studied in universities and chose as my vocation the study of general philosophy. At no time did I think of engaging in research of the Holocaust. But, the experience of the Holocaust, thoughts about the Holocaust, analysis of issues of the Holocaust – these never left me throughout my life to this day.”<\/em><\/p>\n
