SPRINGFIELD, IL –<\/strong> The Illinois Conservation Foundation (ICF) today announced the selection of Lynn Sanders as ICF’s 2017 Conservation Author of the Year for her book Dancing with Tex: The Remarkable Friendship to Save the Whooping Cranes. This touching true-life story about ornithologist George Archibald’s multi-year quest to successfully breed an endangered whooping crane is written as an inspirational conservation story for 6 to 9-year old children and includes educational content.  A new companion teacher’s guide was just created.<\/p>\n

According to Eric Schenck, ICF Executive Director, Sanders’ book fills an important void that must be overcome to get more educators, including home-school educators, to use conservation stories and topics as part of their teaching curriculum.<\/p>\n
