A charity event to collect essential items to benefit maternity wards in the Dominican Republic<\/div>\n

New York, NY – April 25, 2017 –<\/strong> Project Mama is an international charitable cause that aids expecting mothers living in extreme poverty.  The last four years, Divas Leading Inc., has hand-delivered over 2500 “mommy bags” to maternity wards in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n

The “mommy bags” were filled with essential items not limited to diapers, baby wipes, bibs, onesies, sanitary napkins, body lotion, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, etc. In honor of the 5th anniversary, the goal is to collect sufficient essential items to fill and distribute 1000 “mommy bags.”<\/p>\n

“People doubted our abilities to make a difference, but with perseverance and consistency we have made a major impact on many lives. Our goal is continue providing aid for this cause, and ultimately spread the support to various countries.”<\/em><\/p>\n

A major part of the fundraising support for Project Mama derives from local business owners in communities where local residents are predominantly Dominican like Washington Heights, Inwood, and other areas of New York City. The members of the Divas Leading panel then ship the items to Santo Domingo to await their arrival. Once the shipment arrives, members of the panel travel to Dominican Republic to hand deliver the mommy bags directly to the patients receiving medical assistance at the selected maternity ward.<\/p>\n

The last four years, Divas Leading Inc., has developed a rapport with the following maternity wards: Hospital Materno-Infantil San Lorenzo de Los Minas, La Maternidad de Nuestra Señora La Altagracia, Juan Pablo Pina in San Cristobal, and Hospital Pedro Heredia Rojas in Monte Plata, Dominican Republic. This summer, Divas Leading is planning to distribute the “mommy bags” in province near the Haitian border; Ocoa, Azua, Barahona and Elia Pina.<\/p>\n

This year’s Project Mama fundraising campaign has been quite successful thanks to past and present sponsors and supporters who have donated both monetary donations and who have purchased essential items to be delivered to the maternity wards.<\/p>\n
