Bethesda, Maryland – How far would you go to realize your passion? Since 2013 Michael Zhuang, a resident of Bethesda and nicknamed “The Investment Scientist” for his founding of MZ Capital Management, has traveled the world and spent countless hours researching, studying and practicing his love of musical improv. In 2017, he began sponsoring up-and-coming talent from New York City and Chicago to perform locally, as a way of embedding musical improv into the fabric of Bethesda’s growing arts and entertainment culture.

Through his wealth management firm, he’s created opportunities for emerging artists to showcase their talent to a broader audience and take a slice of Bethesda back with them to their cities. To jumpstart 2018, he’s invited Veteran Chicago improvisers Tara DeFrancisco and Rance Rizzutto to the area to perform their critically acclaimed improvised musical, HERE, recently called “nothing short of genius” by NPR. In HERE, Tara and Rance get one suggestion to create a theme through an opening number, they then design characters and storylines inspired by that theme, and effortlessly weave the strings together to discover one piece.

The performance will be Friday, January 19, 2018 at 8:00pm at Imagination Stage – 4908 Auburn Avenue, Bethesda, MD 20814.
