Accra, Ghana – 15th July, 2019 – Golden Mainland Ghana Limited has announced Mr. Richard Gorab as a new shareholder of the company. Mr. Gorab brings on-board his over two decades experience in Investment and Asset Management globally, especially in the sub-region.
Chief Executive Officer for Golden Mainland, Zoyo Zhao expressed her excitement on the new addition to the company. According to her the move validates the efforts and growth, which the company had experienced. It also sets up Golden Mainland for the next level of expansion due to Richard’s financial acumen and Private Equity experience. “This is exciting for us as a company because it validates our effort and we are geared up to do more as a business” she said.
Mr. Gorab, is a Canadian entrepreneur, with diversified experience in global financial markets, also possesses wealth management knowledge working with family offices, sovereign wealth funds and institutions. His career and educational lives have taken him across myriad countries including the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Ghana and Dubai in the UAE, and others. He is currently the CEO of Gorab Advisors, a team of financial advisors headquartered in Canada.
In his early life, Richard obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto in 1991. From there, he further acquired an MBA in Finance at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University in The Netherlands with further studies at HEC-Paris.
Richard previously worked in London with Morgan Stanley as an Investment Advisor for 4 years. From here, he moved on to RBC Wealth Management. In his 13-year stint at RBC, he rose to the position of Director and Chief Representative of RBC-Middle East. As head of the Dubai office, Richard grew RBC’s presence in the region from a private bank to a more diverse financial platform including offshore trusts, global custody and corporate pension. Before moving back to Canada, Richard successfully transitioned RBC’s Swiss banking clients in the region to Banque SYZ-Geneva when RBC Suisse SA was sold. As a result, he was awarded the title of SYZ’s Chief Representative for the Middle East. During his tenure in Dubai, Richard has been asked to speak at various events and banking institutions including the keynote speechto the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) in October 2011 on the topic, Building a Resilient Financial System to Withstand External Shocks.
Mr. Gorab also acts as a Consultant to Ultra-high net-worth individuals (UHNWI) in Canada. He is also a major shareholder at Rubicon, a UAE-based private equity company. In his spare time, Richard enjoys snowboarding, rugby and spending time at his cottage in Georgian Bay, Canada. He considers himself an avid traveler with visits to over 150 countries. With this move, Golden Mainland Ghana Limited is looking to forge a path towards retained excellence and increasing its financial capacity.
