Vancouver, BC – ZAPPED Outfitters has created a line of durable streetwear for school-aged kids with secret superpowers. Each article features microscopic glass beads embedded in the fabric that reflect light at night. It’s the first line of fully reflective active gear for kids!

The launch collection of ZAPPED essentials includes a jacket, ball cap, beanie, backpack, slip-on sneaker and fleece-lined high top, and each features 100% all-over tonal reflective materials. Now kids can play hard and be seen from head to toe, especially in the darker winter months.

The line is targeted to children between the ages of 6 and 12 and is waterproof, resilient and designed with an edgy style for rugged active play. Other hidden surprises in the gear include the backpack’s built-in whistle, an incognito ZAPPED logo in the print, and stuff-it pockets for keeping secrets safe.

Scarlet Kux-Kardos is the brainchild behind the brand. She’s a clothing designer who’s worked for such leading sports apparel companies as Under Armour, Marmot, Outdoor Research, and Columbia but it wasn’t until she had a child of her own that she decided to launch an innovative kids line after realizing how unaware most kids are about being seen on the street. ZAPPED essentials are already available in select locations in Vancouver, Whistler and Nelson, British Columbia as well as online at zappedoutfitters.com.

To celebrate its launch, ZAPPED has partnered with two organizations helping kids play hard and be seen. One is the Vancouver-based non-profit backpackbuddies.ca, which helps fill children’s backpacks with food items for the weekend when other food programs are unavailable. The second is Ruben’s Shoes (www.rubensshoes.com), which donates shoes to kids in developing countries who might otherwise miss school due to a lack of footwear. ZAPPED has an ongoing relationship with both organizations to donate proceeds from shoe and backpack sales.
