Venerated Nephrologist David W. Doner Jr., MD, FACP, will be Highlighted in The Leading Physicians of the World

The International Association of HealthCare Professionals is pleased to welcome David W. Doner Jr., MD, FACP, Nephrologist, to their prestigious organization with his upcoming publication in The Leading Physicians of the World. Dr. Doner Jr. is a highly trained and qualified nephrologist with a vast expertise in all facets of his work. Dr. Doner Jr. has been in practice for more than 42 years and is currently retired in Santa Barbara, California. Earlier in his career, he was Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at USC, Keck School of Medicine, where he worked for 29 years until 2009, as well as Clinical Director of Lompoc Artificial Kidney Center for ten years until 2009.

Dr. Doner Jr. graduated cum laude in 1966 from the College of Medicine at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Having earned his Doctor of Medicine degree, he went to Strong Memorial Hospital/University of Rochester College of Medicine to serve his internal medicine residency. Dr. Doner Jr. then completed his nephrology fellowship training at Boston University School of Medicine. He holds dual board certification in Nephrology and Internal Medicine with the American Board of Internal Medicine, and maintains professional memberships with the American Medical Association, the California Medical Association, and the American Society of Nephrology. Dr. Doner Jr. is an inductee of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society as well as the recipient of the Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award from the Boston University School of Medicine, where he served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine after completing his fellowship training.

Dr. Doner Jr. has served on the SBCC Foundation Board of Directors since 2012 and gives his support to Santa Barbara City College and its students, as well as USC Arts and Lectures. Dr. Doner Jr. established four scholarships to assist SBCC students: one in the area of biological and life sciences, one for the nursing program, one for former foster youth in the Guardian Scholars program, and one to support students with learning disabilities in honor of his son Austin. He also gives generously to the Adopt-A-Student Scholarship program, which supports students with the most need by funding enrollment and books for one semester. Dr. Doner Jr. credits his success to the love for his work and his patients, having an excellent staff, and having worked with excellent colleagues. He spent 10 months meditating in Switzerland before moving to Santa Barbara in 1978 and setting up an internal medicine and nephrology practice. In his spare time, Dr. Doner Jr. enjoys meditation, walking, and traveling.
