Vehicle History Adding Volkswagen Owner\’s Manuals To Database

Vehicle History, a site dedicated to helping consumers gain information about used cars and trucks, now has owner’s manuals for used Volkswagens included in their service, the company announced yesterday. Consumers can now download Volkswagen owner’s manuals if they are lost or stolen.

“This is going to be a free service for consumers,” said Vanessa Hernandez, a spokeswoman for Vehicle History. “We want people to be able to get access to these manuals when they need them without worrying about the expense.”

Anyone can download the owner’s manuals to their computer or their mobile device, she said.

“An owner’s manual is a very important document, but many people don’t think about it until they really need it,” she said. “That’s why they find out that they may not have it, but want it right away. Now we’ve made that possible.”

An owner’s manuals provides information that advises the car’s owner on what types of parts and fuel to use, and lets them know when to get the vehicle serviced. Perhaps more importantly, a thorough reading ensures the car’s owner doesn’t void the warranty during repairs.

“If a person buys a used Volkswagen, they are not likely to check and see if it has an owner’s manual in the glove compartment or not,” she said. “But when the car has a problem is not the time to find out that it’s missing. That can be a very frustrating experience. We want to help avoid that from happening.”

The Volkswagen owner’s manuals are broken down by make, model and year. Downloading one, which comes in PDF form, takes a couple of minutes, she said.

“We think that having a digital version of the owner’s manual is ideal,” she said. “That way, it can stay on a tablet or smartphone for immediate access, and using a PDF reader’s search feature keeps the information at your fingertips. And if the owner wants to print it out, they can do it at their convenience.”
