Varsity Rees, the emerging sensation on the hip-hop/rap scene, is on a mission: to electrify the conventional with a passion that leaves blood, sweat and tears at each performance. His new movement and lifestyle oriented music is branded VarsityLife, which will soon launch its new mixtape, ‘The Reunion’.
A graduate of Neumann University, Varsity Rees carried a deep longing for stage and musical performances, absorbing inspiration from icons such as Michael Jackson, Lauryn Hill and James Brown. Rees went on to perform at over 30 venues across the US. His talent received recognition when he was placed third at the Coast to Coast event that featured hundred artists.
Born in Philadelphia, Rees grew up amidst a variety of music, and dreamt of becoming the most sought after artist from his region. His dreams are now closer to the goal, having released four mixtapes, ‘The Initiation’, ‘Breaking The Ice’, ‘Paving My Own Way’ and ‘The Ugliness of Success’, that are now available for streaming and download on iTunes, Spotify and Audiomack.
“If you’re a fan, then you’re a family! I want to create for my fans music for every occasion, be it starting the day or mellow compositions while outdoors,” says Varsity Rees.
Rees has recently performed at the Voltage and Music Notch shows, and his hit singles include ‘Gonna Love Me’, ‘Summertime’ and ‘Dreaming’.
As the founder of VarsityLife, Rees hopes to begin a new movement where everyone can find the music they can relate to and carry with them. VarsityLife eventually aims to grow beyond a brand and turn music into a lifestyle.
