The Wanderlust Theatre Company is a Cultural Treasure Bridging American and Latin American Countries

As one of Central America’s most important travelling theatre groups, the Wanderlust Theatre Company has been traveling the countries of Guatemala and El Salvador since 1996, and sharing many of America’s most popular and timeless Broadway shows and music. In their latest project, the Wanderlust Theatre Company hopes to expand their tour schedule to include Nicaragua. The show in this new Central American nation will showcase a cabaret of Broadway music which should inspire many Nicaraguans to pursue music and theatre as an artistic endeavor and spark an interest in musical theatre. Even, a career. With the assured success of this initial show, the Wanderlust Theatre Company hopes to create “summer stock” type full seasons of shows in Nicaragua in coming years.

Originating in New York City, the Wanderlust Theatre Company is currently under the management of Dana P. Dimon (Artistic Producer), Michael Lavine (Musical Director) and Brett Teresa (Director & Company Manager). In the past, this theatrical group has produced sellout crowds in El Salvador and Guatemala, which has sparked enormous interest in the many rich, cultural products of the United States as well as those of local cultures. Most recently collaborating with the El Salvador Youth Symphony Orchestra in December 2013.

The Wanderlust Theatre Company has also invited the public to help bring American musical theatre to other countries. Supporters can now make contributions to the crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. The latest project in Nicaragua, which will include four shows in Leon and Granada, will tax the limited budget of the organization, so they need the assistance of the public. With contributions come a number of appealing perks like memorialization in the playbill, tickets to the Nicaraguan shows, and entry to the after-show cocktail party. The new show in Nicaragua will also include a performance with musicians from the Casa de Tres Mundos Youth Orchestra, which helps young people in the country participate in musical education and performance. Casa de Tres Mundos Youth Orchestra offers Nicaraguan youth the opportunity to learn about and practice musical composition, orchestral direction, and vocal or instrumental performance.
