Washington. DC – The most important function of a ministry of foreign affairs in the contemporary international system is to implement a country diplomatic principles and policies; safeguard national sovereignty, run diplomatic affairs on behalf of the country and its government.

But we must applaud when the Dominican President Danilo Medina, and the Chancellor of the Dominican Republic Miguel Vargas Maldonado, go the extra mile and put their reputation at stake to resolve a conflict of another nation, such as the crisis in Venezuela, which not only affects the inhabitants of that nation, but their neighboring countries, and all of Latin America and the whole world. Recently the US State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert, expressed their gratitude “The United States applauds the efforts of President Medina and the government of the Dominican Republic to foster a process that helps to find a peaceful, democratic, and comprehensive solution to Venezuela’s political and humanitarian crisis.

While the world waits for a quick and peaceful solution, the Dominican government and its Minister of Foreign Affairs Miguel Vargas Maldonado, prepare to be part of the solution at the next talks that would be held on December 1st and 2nd, again in the Dominican capital Santo Domingo.

Regardless of the outcome obtained in this Summit or in future meetings, the truth is that all the other countries should follow the steps of the government of the United States, and recognize the great conciliatory work of the Dominican Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas Maldonado.
