18 September, 2017 – On August 25, 2017, Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Rockport, Texas – a town of less than 10,000 people. With sustained winds around 130 mph, Harvey’s category 4 hurricane rating quickly destroyed the homes and buildings in its path. It’s merciless destruction and increasing water levels displaced families and left people flocking to shelters for aid. Even now, people are still assessing damage and trying to pick of the pieces of what is left.

The Skin Research Institute decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from their recent Labor Day sale to help the victims of this tragedy in Texas. Priding themselves on being more than just a business – one that cares for the well-being and overall health of their customers – it just seemed like the right thing to do.

John Bishop, the head of the customer service department at The Skin Research Institute, recently discussed this decision: “I think we all had the same idea, instantaneously. We wanted to help in any way possible and donating a portion of our sales seemed like the best way to ensure that people in Texas were getting the help they needed. We aren’t the only business to have done this, and hopefully many more will reach out in this way.”

As people continue to assess damage and begin to rebuild their lives, The Skin Research Institute hopes that their efforts will help make the process a bit easier. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Texas during this difficult time,” explains Bishop. “It’s times like this that shine a light on what truly matters.”
