The London Caipirinha Festival (LondonCaipFest), in association with the Embassy of Brazil in London, EMBRATUR and other local partners will start on 5 July and run for 10 days later, coming to an end on 15 July 2018.
There will be a series of opening events on 5 July 2018 at the Embassy of Brazil in Trafalgar Square in the heart of centre of London with an afternoon event for dedicated to bar and restaurants staff, bartenders, entertainment and hospitality industries with caipirinha master class, cachaça tasting and Brazilian gastronomy, followed by an evening event for the travel trade and press.
The London Caipirinha Festival (#LondonCaipFest) is London’s largest Brazilian cocktails, drinks, and food competition, and seeks to profile Brazil’s no.1 cocktail, the caipirinha, as well as the country’s enticing gastronomy. The broader objective is to shine a light on Brazil and its unique culture, and encourage Londoners to get to know a little bit more about its particular culinary culture, as well as one of its most successful exports, notably cachaça, which is the base of the mighty caipirinha.
The festival was a huge summer hit last year and 2018 promises to be no different. The participating bars and restaurants are already busy preparing to receive thirsty guests looking to cast their votes over the ten-day event. All winners will be announced on 31 July.
The London Caipirinha Festival aims to promote the caipirinha in the capital through healthy competition. After sampling each establishment’s caipirinhas, the public are invited to cast their votes on the festival website, which also hosts a range of additional information about the festival and Brazilian food and drink.
These votes will equate to scores across a range of different criteria, including the best original caipirinha, best bartender, best Brazilian food, and best service, to name just a few. Votes are restricted to one per person per establishment and there will also be a range of prizes up for grabs to encourage public participation.
In addition, this year, as part of the 2018 edition, organisers will also elect a bartender to be the new Caipirinha Ambassador in London.
Winners in each category will receive an official certificate, whilst all competing establishments will be presented with materials to commemorate their participation. The final results will rely not only the public vote, but also those of a select panel of judges, made up of critics and opinion makers.
All participating establishments of the competition have been selected by the festival organisers and the full list is available at www.loondoncaipfest.co.uk.

“The London Caipirinha Festival has been such a great success that it allowed us to explore the idea of expanding the event. We also held a similar event this year in Madrid, which was a huge hit. With this, we are more motivated than ever to capture the public’s imagination by promoting Brazil’s diverse gastronomy, and in doing this, profile the country’s truly unique festive spirit. This year we will also be electing the very first Caipirinha Ambassador in London,” said Glauco Chris Fuzinatto, president of VBRATA EUROPE and festival organiser.
