The Five Best Indie Holiday Films to Watch this Christmas Break

Make this Christmas break special with TriCoast Entertainment’s list of the best indie holiday films to add to your list of favorite Christmas classics.

Los Angeles, CA – December 20, 2017 – Alternative Christmas films with a side of the traditional cookies & milk, sitting by the fire, & watching with your family and friends.

Twas the month of snow flurries, warm chocolate, and Santa squeezing down the chimneys on the starry night of Christmas Eve.

Television guides are overcrowded with Christmas classics like “It’s A Wonderful Life” (1946), “A Christmas Story” (1983), and “Elf” (2003), making each year a little more familiar, yet a little less magical.

TriCoast Entertainment wants to wish you a ‘Happy Holidays’ with alternative films to add to your Christmas movie list, ranging from holiday love stories to ultimate family dysfunction.

Here are “The Five Best Indie Holiday Films to Watch this Christmas Break”:

1. “A Christmas Tale” (2008) – Arnaud Desplechin

“A Christmas Tale” is family-dysfunctional Christmas classic with Desplechin’s French influence, starring Mathieu Amalric and Catherine Deneuve.

2. “Christmas Dreams” (2017) – Andrew Repasky McElhinney

This heartwarming holiday film follows the Little Drummer Boy (Conrad Sager) and the Pretty Girl (Francesca Flamminio) through a winter wonderland adventure, with narration by Kevin Sorbo that is perfect for all ages.

3. “Carol” (2015) – Tom Haynes

One of the few Christmas love stories to exist, Haynes’ film stars an unexpected holiday romance from stars Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara

4. “No Panic, With a Hint of Hysteria” (2016) – Tomasz Szafranski

When accountant, Chester (Stephen Baldwin) attempts a double life as a hitman, if he can avoid being a target and revealing his secret identity.

5. “Tangerine” (2015) – Sean Baker

Revolutionary for being entirely filmed on an iPhone 5S, “Tangerine” features two transgender prostitutes, Sin-Dee (Kiki Rodriguez) and Alexandra (Mya Taylor) who navigate through Los Angeles’ nightlife on Christmas Eve.
