Taj Accountants, the award-winning small business accountants in London, recently conducted a seminar on accounting challenges and opportunities in Torquay, (Devon), 16 April 2017.
Respected individuals, local businessmen, and community activists were all in attendance at this informative seminar. They include the international politician and former freedom fighter of Bangladesh, Mr. Mujahidul Islam from New York, USA; the prominent businessman and owner of Bombay Express, Mr Nizam Uddin; and the prominent businessman and owner of Bay Spice Tandoori and the honorable president of the British Bangladesh Cultural Association, Mr Kibria Chowdhury. Other prominent businessman in attendance included Mr Masuk Miah, Mr Mitu Miah, Mr Ronnie Ahmed and many others.
The attendees welcomed the initiative taken by Taj Accountants especially in this difficult time for small businesses. During the seminar, the attendees were focusing on different issues such as Making Tax Digital, PAYE, Pensions and VAT and emphasized these as burning issues.
The opening speech was delivered by the president of the British Bangladesh Cultural Association, Mr Kibria Chowdhury. Mr Chowdhury praised the recent achievements of Taj Accountants. In recent months Taj Accountants has received the prestigious ‘Best Small Business Accountants Award’ from the renowned Sunrise (Spectrum) Bangla radio station. They have received this award due to their contribution to accounting and taxation services for small and medium-sized businesses based in London and the surrounding areas. Mr Chowdhury stated that he was sure Taj Accountants will make the British Bangladeshi community very proud by representing them in the mainstream.
Next up was the managing director of Taj Accountants, Mr Abul Nurujjaman, who promised to help the small businesses get through this difficult time. One such way of helping is the price freeze policy his firm is adopting. “We understand that the small businesses are going through a very difficult time due to so many external factors such as the shortage of staff due to Brexit.” Other issues highlighted by Mr Nurujjaman included increasing HMRC compliance and statutory duties. Mr Nurujjaman urged the attendees to co-operate fully with Taj Accountants so that they could effectively act on their behalf to overcome these business issues.
Owner of Bombay Express, Mr Nizam Uddin, showed much interest in what Taj Accountants had to offer. He highlighted how much the local businessmen suffer due to a lack of good understanding of accounting and taxation and recommended Taj Accountants as a firm of quality and stated that Taj Accountants had become very popular among British Bangladeshi Indian restaurants.
The closing speech was delivered by the chief guest of the evening all the way from New York in the USA, international politician and former freedom fighter of Bangladesh, Mr Mujahidul Islam. Mr Islam firstly thanked Taj Accountants for traveling such a distance from London to arrange the seminar for the sake helping the local small businesses and said “It shows Taj Accountants is a dedicated small business accountant. The discussions of the seminar are really fruitful. It has been shown how much more compliance small businesses need to do now compared to before. I hope Taj Accountants will continue this sort of seminar nationwide to help the small businesses overcome such issues as increased compliance requirements”.
It would be good to take this opportunity to recognize and celebrate Mr Nurujjaman’s efforts in the community as he is equally active in this area as he is devoted to accountancy. Recently Mr Nurujjaman won the London borough of Brent ‘Community Activist of the Year Award 2016-2017′, which he received personally from the Mayor of Brent, Councillor Parvez Ahmed. This award recognized Mr Nurujjaman’s efforts in a variety of volunteer roles such as being the youngest ever elected director (director of international relations) in the history of BBCCI, a not-for-profit organisation that promotes trade between the UK and Bangladesh. In addition, Mr Nurujjaman is deeply involved with charitable organisations such as the Human Relief Foundation, raising more than £60,000 with his team in 2016 for Syrian refugees in an appeal that involved him trekking more than 90km along the Great Wall of China.
