SUSANNE BIER + NIKOLAJ COSTER-WALDAU: BACK TO THEIR DANISH ROOTS IN \’A 2ND CHANCE\’ – AN INTENSE STORY + POWERFUL PERFORMANCES

“A 2ND CHANCE // ROCK SALT RELEASING”
Drama meets thriller in Susanne Bier’s newest Danish film ‘A 2nd CHANCE’ – “An intense story and powerful performances,” from Decay Mag.

Los Angeles, CA – August 7, 2018 – “A 2nd CHANCE stands as a grim story about loss and how you handle with it. It’s an impressive drama with shocking images of deterioration, drugs and domestic violence,” – Decay Mag.

Directed by Oscar-winning and Emmy-nominated Susanne Bier (The Night Manager) and starring HBO Game of Thrones’ Jamie Lannister, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, A 2nd CHANCE brings both the Scandinavian director and actor back to their Danish roots for this high-concept and dark Nordic noir. Similar to others of its type, Bier’s Nordic noir encompasses a gloomy atmosphere and feeling of dreadful neglect as life’s deepest and most hidden secrets are about to be revealed. Michael Snyman’s “cinematography is splendid with the use of grey colour shades to put the viewer right in the atmosphere of the narrative,” commented Decay Mag, keeping the viewers on their toes and second-guessing each decision.

“What’s great about Bier’s film is how it keeps you guessing from the beginning what will happen,” remarked Decay Mag.

Written Bier’s filmmaking partner Ander Thomas Jensen (In A Better World, All You Need is Love), A 2ND CHANCE parallels two families – one, the happy family of Detective Andreas (Coster-Waldau) and – two, the junkie-couple who leaves their baby boy covered in his own excrement and surrounded by their fumes from heated spoons. But when the unthinkable happens and tragedy strikes Andreas’ family, the sudden tragic death of their son, he sees his life hanging by a thread as he makes a choice that will lead everyone down a rabbit hole of moral and ethical disarray. Rooted in the foundations of love and parenthood, Bier’s direction invokes a strong and empowering female voice with open eyes to reflect our dark world. At its core, A 2nd CHANCE is about real people forced into incredibly difficult circumstances, forcing viewers to confront their personal notions about right and wrong, leaving us with the question: Who are we to think we are better than anyone else?

“Bier’s A 2ND CHANCE focuses on the family issues and how as humans we behave during unbearable situations… What we assume is the best option or the best approach to handle with that might be the one with the worst consequences,” commented Decay Mag.

A 2nd CHANCE began its international success with its world premiere at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival with its intricate ability to blur the line between good and evil, the morals of right and wrong, as a once seemingly black-and-white world becomes brooding with shades of gray and questions about society’s ethical principles. As Detective Andreas, Coster-Waldau “delivers a dynamic performance and his representation of a disturbed parent is striking and believable,” reported Decay Mag.

“If you’re a fan of Bier’s filmography or a fan of dramas with emotion, raw and powerful messages, you will mostly enjoy A 2ND CHANCE. Worth a look,” concluded Decay Mag. Watch A 2nd CHANCE on video streaming platforms including Amazon today: https://amzn.to/2A4NlqH.
