Supply Chain Management as a Strategic Asset and Driver of Profitability

John Maher, Vice President of Product Strategy for Synchrono, is a well-respected supply chain thought leader and Supply & Demand Chain Executive Pros to Know. Recently Maher corroborated the findings of The Clear Peak Supply Chain Advisory Council survey. The group of practitioners from industry and academia that make up the Council are driven to encourage the advancement and deployment of a more connected supply chain through management action, technology, and analytics. The council conducted a survey of supply chain experts on the importance of supply chain visibility to next-generation supply chain management (SCM).

Maher shared, “Supply chain visibility is transforming how manufacturers communicate, collaborate and drive continuous improvement. As a result of big data and the Internet of Things, manufacturers are accumulating vast amounts of data. Every day we work with manufacturers to aggregate that data and make it visible to the right people at the right time so they can take immediate action.”

The survey explored Supply Chain Management (SCM) which is often seen as a strategic asset and is evolving as a driver of profitability and change.  In the past, the supply chain was often viewed as a corporate cost that needed to be minimized to improve profitability. Today, many data-driven corporations have come to regard the supply chain as a critical corporate asset to be optimized and leveraged. However, the supply chain is not yet widely seen as a driver of growth and profitability – or as an effective tool for organizational change.  Synchrono is leading the change. The Synchrono whitepaper, ‘E2E Supply Chain Visibility Technology is Here,’ aligns with the Clear Peak findings and provides real world examples of how visibility technologies are impacting profitability:  http://bit.ly/2oE99jP
