Chef Shashank Agtey, The Kitchen’s founder, has been the Executive Chef in numerous kitchens in South Florida including the iconic Fort Lauderdale Café Septembers for 14 years. It was here where he earned his 5 Star Designation from the Chaine du Rostisseur, an acclaimed epicurean society.
Chef Agtey was also Executive Chef for Pa DeGennaro’s, Riverside Hotel, Hillcrest Golf and Country Club, Crocco’s Fine Dining, Revolution Live, and America’s Backyard. At the age of 34, he had the distinct honor of being selected to cook for President Bush Senior and President Clinton. Chef Agtey has also taught aspiring chefs at Miami Culinary Institute and Lincoln Culinary Institute as an adjunct instructor.
These days, Chef Agteyenjoys bringing his passion for cooking healthy into his newly opened Sidewalk Chef Kitchen, where he cooks with only all-natural ingredients, hormone and antibiotic-free protein, grass-fed bison, wild caught seafood and locally grown organic vegetables. Chef Agtey’s dishes are flavorful and unique with an international flair that stems from his Indian roots.
Sidewalk Chef Kitchen meals are distributed through three avenues: Heat and Eat 500-Calorie Meals which are cooked and packaged in re-heatable BPA-free containers for people on-the-go; cooked-to-order meals in the dining room which hosts an herb wall and allows customers to have a hot meal while picking up their weekly Heat and Eat Meals; and catered corporate lunches which can be delivered and set-up if needed. Customers interested in Heat and Eat Meals can purchase as many meals as they’d like from the refrigerator section at The Kitchen or pre-order meals at www.sidewalkchef.com for pick-up. Customers can customize their meals based off of special dietary needs with additional vegan or vegetarian options available by request.
The Kitchen’s menu consists of a wide mixture of customer favorites and unique dishes. All meals are house-made, and some examples include: deconstructed turkey shepherd’s pie, vegetarian chili, chickpea-dusted eggplant planks, lemongrass chicken, wild-caught shrimp stir-fry, turkey meatloaf, signature kale and Brussels sprouts salad with a mango turmeric citrus dressing, soups made from scratch every morning, grilled wild salmon sandwich, and much more. Recently, The Kitchen began serving the plant-based Impossible™ Burger and other meal options with Impossible™ Foods.
