SHEPOWER HONORS SIX POWERFUL LOCAL WOMEN AT THE 2nd ANNUAL PINK GALA

SHEPOWER CELEBRATES ITS SECOND YEAR ANNIVERSARY BY RECOGNIZING WOMEN WHO BOLDLY INFLUENCE THE COMMUNITY IN BUSINESS, EDUCATION, HEALTH, POLITICS, AND SERVICE WHILE OWNING HER SHEPOWER WITHOUT APOLOGY.

Bakersfield, California – ShePower is set to honor six female leaders in our community, Saturday May 19, 2018 at a private estate. The Awards celebration will honor six powerful women who have achieved success in business and inspire other women and girls around the globe to own their Power while balancing work, family, home, and health. 

The 2018 ShePOWER honorees:

SUPERVISOR LETICIA PEREZ, Kern County Board of Supervisor 5th District receives the SHE LEADS AWARD. Leticia is active in social and political issues as well as philanthropic efforts. She is the first women to reside as President of Kern County Bar’s Criminal Defense section. She spearheads some of the county’s most impactful economic development projects. Governor Brown appointed her board member of (BSCC), and she was the first Latina President of (SCAC).

HEATHER FRANK, Project Manager of Studio4forty receives the WOMAN OF THE YEAR award. Heather produces Women Wine & Shoes, one of Bakersfield best attended events as well as Farm to Table. Heather has raised over 45 million dollars for nonprofits and continue to raise funds while being a voice for women and children.

DENA FREEMAN-PATTON, Deputy Athletics Director of CSUB Roadrunners Athletics receives the SHE EDUCATES AWARD. Dena is one of few women in her position where under her leadership, athletes have maintained a 3.0 or above GPA with a graduation success of 75%. She also led the efforts in securing an $870.000 grant that opened the Kegley Center, an academic support hub for CSUB Student-Athletes.

DR. KIMBERLY DIXON, Pediatrician, Clinica Sierra Vista, Inc. receives the SHE HEALS AWARD. Dr. Kimberly works with the underserved community and was awarded a $100,000 grant to continue her work in Bakersfield’s underserved community. Daily, she impacts and heals the lives of women and girls.

HONORABLE TIFFANY ORGAN BOWLES, Kern County Superior Court Judge receives the GAMECHANGER AWARD.  Judge Bowles is one of the few women who sits on the bench and one of the first women to defeat and unseat a judge in an election.  She changes the game for women and girls.

CHRISTA MARTINEZ, Central Valley Market Leader, Movement Mortgage receives the PRESIDENT AWARD. The President Award is given to a woman who personally inspires, motivates or affects the President to be a better leader. As an Intentional Coach, Christa has empowered the President to do the work and better balance her responsibilities of wife, mother, leader and community advocate.

The Gala will be hosted by Arleana Waller, Visionary, Founder, CEO of ShePOWER. The Gala will benefit ShePower Leadership Academy, a 5013c nonprofit organization.   

Elected Officials as well as Leaders and Community Influencers will be in attendance. Honorees will receive official recognition from Majority Leader, Kevin McCarthy, Mayor Karen Goh, United States Congressperson David Valadao, California State Assemblyperson Rudy Salas, California State Assemblyperson Vince Fong, Supervisor Mike Maggard, Supervisor Leticia Perez, California State Senator Jean Fuller and Senator Andy Vidak.

ShePower is one of Kern County’s much sought after social and professional networking brand that celebrate the power of women and girls in their efforts to lead.  CEO of ShePower Arleana Waller states, “I am very excited about our second anniversary of ShePower in Kern County. Last year we sold out, and this year we anticipate doing the same. The event brings together powerful individuals as we celebrate unsung SheROEs in our community, while raising money for ShePower Academy”.

It is the mission of ShePower Leadership Academy to increase the number of female leaders by empowering our girls, ages 8 – 18 to broaden her awareness, build key relationships, and understand her passion and purpose early in life.  To teach her how to identify and develop opportunities that will enable her to self-elect into leadership and to be a voice at the table on issues effecting women and girls in her community and globally, as she leads and build leaders.
