Seoul, S. Korea – July 7, 2018 – SHAPL, a fast-growing platform where products are created, chosen, and made by participants, recently launched the largest international production design contest ever—the SHAPL Design Contest with the Grand Total Prize of $65,000. The emerging startup company that made over $1.5 million in sales during their pilot project, is excited to announce this challenge for designers and consumers, alike.
The SHAPL Design Contest aims to create opportunities for innovative designers while also producing quality goods that consumers want.
The contest is open to all students, freelancers, and anyone interested in product design and the deadline for entry is July 15th. Here’s how it works: when a designer submits their idea, the design is revealed to the public through the SHAPL homepage, and public voting begins.
Contest distinctions are awarded based on the decision by a jury and public vote—or, ‘likes’. Unlike the other design contests, SHAPL cares about consumer perspective and relies on the public to select the winner. The company believes that consumers should have the chance to purchase items they like and a company should produce what consumers like, at an affordable price.
How is this opportunity unique? Half of the jury is consumers themselves, therefore, the possibilities are infinite for contestants—including eligibility to commercialize their designs.
“Through this contest, SHAPL will meet designers who are full of ideas, and we believe that we will provide more opportunities for them,” said Chang Soo Jin, CEO of SHAPL. “SHAPL is waiting for the designer who dreams of producing their own works. With this contest, SHAPL encourages beginner designers and gives more opportunities to international designers.”
Each selected designer will receive an additional $10,000 USD as a production bonus on top of their prize. The top prize, or, ‘Gold’ winner can receive up to $20,000; ‘Silver’ winner up to $13,000; and ‘Bronze’ winners up to $11,000.
