Shaka-surf.com: Announcement of new online E-Commerce store selling eco-friendly surf accessories, clothing ranges, watches & home items at affordable prices

The damage we’re doing to the environment through the use of plastics is indisputable and a lot has been bought to the public’s attention recently. Future generations are depending on us. This is why we have launched our new brand and online E-Commerce surf store selling eco-friendly surf products. Our range features mostly wooden and bamboo products that are not only pleasing to the eye, but very durable. Around 80% of our stock currently features sustainable and eco-friendly products.

Shaka Surf, http://shaka-surf.com, was born out of the teams’ love for the ocean and the realisation that if things continue on the current trajectory, very few beaches will be able to be used recreationally. This is why founder, Dom Taylor decided to launch the brand. As a keen surfer, he saw the impact first hand we’re having on our oceans and beaches.

He says: “Whilst working in the surf industry, I saw how much waste and harmful activity is going on. From the packaging used to the shipping process, it started to eat at my conscience. I thought there must be a better way. Usually, when companies go down a more environmentally friendly route, the cost burden falls on the customer. I didn’t want this to happen with my online store. More ethical or environmentally friendly products shouldn’t come with higher price tags.”

In addition, Shaka Surf are doing many things to minimise their carbon footprint. One of these, is having solely and online presence, with no plans to open up a bricks and mortar store. At the end of each financial year, Shaka Surf are also donating a percentage of their profits to carbon offset charities, in particular The David Suzuki Foundation. Founder, Dom explains: “It’s great when business can give back, whether that’s offering help to the local community or donating here and there. We choose the David Suzuki Foundation as it aligns with our beliefs and goals.”

Shaka Surf are looking forward to this new year and embracing some of the environmental challenges we face.
