HOUSTON, TX – Houston Certified Public Accountant, Gary N. Cooper, president and CEO of the accounting and consulting firm Cooper CPA Group, PC, has earned the Certified Forensic Accountant (Cr.FA) credential from the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute.
As a Certified Forensic Accountant, Cooper will support attorneys in litigation cases involving misrepresented financial activity and aid businesses in their fraud prevention and detection efforts.
Only members in good standing and holding a CPA license are eligible to apply for the Certified Forensic Accountant program.
“It was important for me to secure the forensic accountant credential. While I have experience in this particular arena, our firm has seen an increase in requests to investigate situations for potential fraud,” says Cooper.
According to a survey by the American Institute of CPAs, 68 percent of its members say their forensic practices have grown over the last year. Reasons for these increases include financial statement fraud and compilation of economic damages.
With more than 35 years in public accounting, Cooper’s expertise includes tax compliance, litigation support and business acquisitions including price, asset allocation, working capital analysis and tax ramifications. He is also a Certified Valuation Analyst and Certified Merger and Acquisition Professional.
