Adele launched her 56-date North American tour with a performance at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota on July 5. She performed many of her most famous hits for the crowd, who sang along at times during the performance, and shared some comments and insights throughout the show.
Adele had a large group of performers on stage with her during the concert. The performance included a 21-piece band with three backup singers, eight string players, and four horn performers.
Adele is one of the best-selling recording artists in history. Her first album, 19, was certified double platinum in the United States and seven times platinum in the United Kingdom. She won Grammys for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal performance in 2009.
Her second album, 21, was released in 2011 and earned her six Grammys, including Album of the Year. It was certified Diamond in the United States and held the Number One position on the charts in the U.S. longer than any other album since 1985. It has sold 31 million copies around the world.
Adele released her third album, 25, in 2015. It was the best-selling album of the year and broke records for first-week sales in the United States and UK. The first single, “Hello,” was the first song to sell over a million digital copies in its first week in the United States.
