San Diego Kids’ Film Festival to Screen Student Productions from She Sees

Hollywood, CA – August 21, 2018 – It takes a vision to build and transform lives. She Sees, a volunteer run program, is nurturing the next generation of female filmmakers so they can tell their stories through the powerful medium of films and documentaries. She Sees will soon travel to the San Diego International Kids Film Festival (SDIKFF), where its participants’ work is scheduled to be screened on Saturday, August 25 at 1:40pm in the Short Film Showcase 12.

She Sees is about empowering women to make their contributions to filmmaking and documentary film production. The fiscally funded initiative involves female film volunteers from the film industry and other related areas for a 10-week film mentorship program in Los Angeles, involving coaching, community building and collaboration. The program also aims to build self-esteem and encourages critical thinking.

If she can see it, she can be it. She Sees is dedicated to inspire the next generation of diverse female filmmakers and empower more young women to tell their stories through film,” says Tish Lara of She Sees.

Some of the highlights of She Sees programs include creating a safe space for healthy emotional and social expression, introduction to film making and story-telling concepts, hands-on experience with production, direction and sound mixing, and empowering students to bring their stories on the screen by developing, pitching and producing their stories.

She Sees welcomes contributions and funding to cover its travel costs to the San Diego Film Festival as well as for its program costs of $15,000. The funds will go towards offering professional film making equipment, mentor recruitment and training, travel, refreshments and administrative expenses.

Participants and Mentors will be available for interviews at the SDIKFF – to coordinate please contact: Cynthia Siadat

The She Sees initiative is expanding to more schools in Los Angeles and neighboring regions, and everyone is invited to lend a helping hand to produce a new generation of female filmmakers.
