Retired “unschooled” electrician defies all odds to publish his first novel

66-year old retired electrician and grandfather, Earl Perkins, overcomes challenges to author and publish his debut novel titled “Rocket Man”

“Rocket Man” can be described as a product of determination and perseverance as Earl Perkins, a self-publishing author with no real formal training or education goes against all odds to release his first novel that has already been garnering reviews from different quarters. Officially published in 2017, the fiction narrates a heroic American tale of courage and redemption and has not only enjoyed an amazing reception from individual readers but is also attracting the attention of moviemakers.

Not everyone is able to live their dream as millions of people rather help others to achieve their goals at the detriment of their personal ambitions. This was not the case of Earl Perkins, who had always wanted to be a sports writer. However, the allure of writing a novel with a captivating story has always been his dream, and the retired electrician stopped at nothing to live this dream despite the challenges life threw at him.

“I had always dreamed of being a published author one day,” said the debut science fiction author. “But having graduated high school in 1970, that seemed to be a distant dream that might have to remain just that — a distant dream.”

Thanks to self-publishing, the Oklahoma writer released his first-ever novel, overcoming the barriers of distance and over-expensive costs of publication associated with conventional publishing. Paramount Books, a strong advocate and supporter of self-publishing is currently working on Earl Perkins for a potential book to screenplay marketing project.

Paramount Books Media considers self-published authors for non-fiction, fiction, children’s books, young adult, how-to, spiritual literature books worthy of further consideration by the talent-hungry pipeline of the entertainment industry. It is in this vein that the publishing company is taking on the “Rocket Man” with the aim of making it a major Hollywood hit.
