The Point Piper modernist masterpiece that has long been home to some of the suburb’s more notable property developers – most recently to Audi team race-car driver Ash Samadi – is up for circa $15 million.
Designed by the late architect Anatol Kagan in the 1950s for the late property developer Walter Rivkin, father of the late disgraced stockbroker Rene Rivkin, it has been handed from one high-profile developer to another ever since.

It was previously owned by Kings Cross developer and Juanita Nielsen nemesis Frank Theeman, whose Potts Point plans were the subject of green bans in the 1970s.
It last traded in 2001 for $2.7 million when sold by Theeman’s estate into the name of Samadi’s mother Fatemeh Doust.
The best of the 1950s remains, but it scored new interiors by designer Nic Graham about decade ago.
Talk has it that Samadi has plans to up-grade to the beach at Tamarama and a certain Wolaroi Crescent house that sold recently off-market for more than $7 million. Meanwhile, the keys have been handed to James McCowan, of Sotheby’s International, and Alain Waitsman, of LJ Hooker Double Bay.
The sale is in the hands of Sotheby’s International and LJ Hooker Double Bay.
Joining the downsizing movement is former UNSW vice-chancellor John Niland and his wife Carmel, the former president of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Board.
The power couple have paid $3.9 million for the Double Bay home of Graincorp and Capilano Honey board member Simon Tregoning and his wife Julia.
John and Carmel Niland’s long-held Bellevue Hill home is on offer for $6 million to $6.5 million.
The sale through James Dunn, of Richardson & Wrench Double Bay, was no doubt what prompted the Nilands to hand the keys to their 1930s home in Bellevue Hill to Dunn to sell after 42 years, and now carries a $6 million to $6.5 million guide.
And the Tregonings? They’ve decamped to the Darling Point waterfront and a $3.88 million whole-floor apartment that was listed in May by Ray White Double Bay’s Elliott Placks on Sutherland Crescent.
The Nilands have owned the property for 42 years.
Remember the Wollstonecraft Federation mansion Niddrie that sold earlier this year for $6.9 million? Well, Lynette Barp, wife of property developer and former owner of Manly Pavilion restaurant John Codling, only took the keys in April and has already returned it to the market.
There’s a catch, of course. Instead of the 2100 square metres with swimming pool and tennis court that traded last time, you’ll only be able to buy the house on 692 square metres, leaving much of the surrounding land to become new homes down the track.

The 1905-era residence has a $4.8 million to $5 million guide ahead of the September 16 auction through LJ Hooker Crows Nest’s Mark Rosati.
Lawyers seek $13 million for record-setter
At Avalon, the Pittwater waterfront residence designed in the 1960s by architect Douglas Snelling, owned by lawyer brothers Alasdair and Andrew Cameron, is on offer to anyone with a spare $13 million.
Alasdair and Andrew Cameron’s Avalon Beach house set a suburb record last time it traded.
Built for the late office builder Arthur Little and set on 4200 square metres of deep waterfront with a three-berth boathouse and private jetty, it set a suburb record when it last traded in 2006 for $9.65 million.
The Camerons have asked Noel Nicholson, of Ray White Palm Beach & Avalon, to sell the property.

Changing faces in Bondi
“Medical disruptors” Dr Suzan Bekir and her facial plastic surgeon husband Dr Toby Pincock are selling their Victorian manor in Bondi for upwards of $4 million.

The Double Bay-based medico couple are said to be trading up locally, prompting the September 12 auction for the 520 square metres with a swimming pool and studio through Daniel Gillespie, of Belle Property Bondi Junction.
The corner property was previously owned by artist Catherine Hickson and her organic farmer partner Craig Robinson, before they sold it in 2014 for $3,125,000.
The residence goes to auction on September 12.
Singhs splash $4 million on weekender
Global Renewables chairman David Singh and his wife Belinda have joined many of the corporate elite in discovering the joys of the new Berry bypass by buying a $4 million weekender in Bellawongarah.
The 54-hectare retreat will offer a break from the hurly burly of Point Piper and the $30 million waterfront they bought in 2014 that was once home to the late Peter and Ruth Simon, owners of the light-switch HPM Industries company.
It seemed such a bullish price at the time – given it had last sold for $12 million from the estate of the late FAI chairman Larry Adler – but given the trajectory of trophy sales since has proved quite the savvy buy after all.
