Power over Ethernet (POE) is a technology compatible for wired ethernet Local Area Network (LAN) that allow electric current for operation of every device carried by data cables instead of power cables. In POE, the electric current travels from power supply end to device end to keep the current separate from data signal for reducing interfacing problems. If the device at other end of the cable is compatible with POE, then device works properly. If the device is not POE compatible, then Picker or Tap component is used for removing the current from the cable. The cable provides data connection and electrical power to the power devices in a single data cable such as CAT6, CAT6A or CAT5e.
