May 3, 2018 – On April 5, 2018, SSENSE – a fashion outfit that sells original fashion and select designer brands – acquired Polyvore, a community-powered social commerce website headquartered in Mountain View, California whose virtual mood board function allowed community members to add products into a shared product index, and use them to create sets. On Polyvore’s website, users could also browse other users’ sets for inspiration, share sets with friends and interact with people through comments and likes. This proved to be a big help to users who liked to create their own style from scratch in the fields of home decoration, beauty, and fashion.
SSENSE’s acquisition of Polyvore has stranded users as they no longer have access to their sets and contacts which were on the Polyvore platform. This is because SSENSE removed all traces of Polyvore from the domain, including the option to create personalized styles and sets. Now Polyvore users and their sets have nowhere to call home and have been in online limbo since this acquisition.
Enter Fashmates, an online platform with a solution to the problems of stranded ex-Polyvore users. FASHMATES has come up with a way for stranded Polyvore users to import their old sets, reconnect with their old contacts and create new sets on their website, giving the users the experience of Polyvore and some. Tens of thousands of ex-Polyvore users have called Fashmates as their new home for creativity, art, and style. Over 600,000 old Polyvore sets have been imported and the site is currently being expanded to accommodate more. New innovations in collage making and set creation is also being introduced to the FASHMATES platform, and it promises to be everything Polyvore used to be and more.
With the goal of “being there when people need us the most”, Fashmates has invested in a Live Human Chat to help answer questions of outraged and worried ex-Polyvore users. Fashmates is also available as mobile applications for the iOS and Android platforms, for a closer interaction with users.
