The young achievers of Virtual President USA (VPUSA) Atlanta have had a huge boost to their virtual national elections campaign with Pizza Hut joining as a corporate impact partner. VPUSA is a contest where future leaders upload self-made videos and campaign to be elected the nation’s virtual president and vice-president. The process builds a sense of purpose, civic duty and social responsibility. All things that Pizza Hut’s Atlanta franchisees are helping cultivate with their important support. Atlanta based candidates can qualify to host Pizza Party Primaries for their debate teams, speaking clubs, or campaign team.
Garfield Akeem Ogle, project ambassador of VPUSA, commented, “Impact Partners are making this youth empowerment initiative possible. To say we are excited that Pizza Hut has come on board would be an incredible understatement. We couldn’t be happier they’ve joined us to make a real social impact! I’m sure we’ll be announcing other big corporations joining up regularly. This is an effort that’s life changing.”
Participating in the virtual elections is free. The top candidates from the four regions of America will have the chance to engage in a series of national debates, and the four finalists will share in over $30,000 in scholarships and other prizes.
The winners of the virtual election will be chosen by a combination of votes and a panel of judges handpicked by the prestigious National Speakers League.
The response to the idea of the virtual presidential election has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic, among sponsors, families, teachers, mentors, parents, and participants alike.
John Davis, a high school student from New York, said, “This is a big challenge and I can’t wait to dive in. It really has me thinking about the election process in our country and what makes it so great!”
The results, after an exciting and challenging step by step electoral process, which will offer many learning experiences for the youth participating along the way, will be decided on January 15, 2015.
