Columbia, MD – Over one hundred and seventy thousand (170,000) Department of Defense (DoD) Contractors and their subcontractors could lose five hundred and eighty billion ($580,000,000,000) dollars worth of government contracts if they don’t meet the security mandates December 31st deadline.
The DoD CIO has madated that all companies and their sub-contractors doing business with the Department of Defence must be in compliance with DFARS 252.204-7012/NIST 800-171.
Due to major cyber-security issues, this federal regulation mandates that all companies processing, storing, and transmitting DoD information must have the necessary security controls implemented to protect the confidentiality of Covered Defense Information (CDI)/ Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
Beginning, January 1, 2018, companies will be required to show compliance as a pre-qualification to win DoD contracts and can face breach of contract litigation if they are not in compliance. Compliance is retroactive, companies who already hold DoD contracts must also show compliance.
A last minute class has been added and available to be taken online or in the classroom at the DoD Training Center in Maryland, December 20th, 2017. The class is intended to clear up any questions and help fulfill compliance regulations.
