Singer and music lover, Oscar Chersa has announced a fundraiser campaign on Kickstarter for The Memphis Gospel Project, the roots of Elvis. Oscar plans to stage this project in the Carcano Theater in Milan on December 22, 2017.
“The Memphis Gospel Project is a dream which I am passionate about for long,” says Oscar Chersa. “This is going to be an explosion of emotions that will remain in the minds of music lovers and Elvis fans for long. We hope to succeed in our crowdfunding efforts so that this big Elvis dream can become a reality.”
Oscar always dreamt about putting together a show in which he could tell the life of the great rock star performer, Elvis Presley. He wanted to bring to the general public and music lovers ‘The Roots of Elvis’. He did not want to create another mundane show which indulged in the imitation of the great singer. That’s what will make ‘The Memphis Gospel Project’ unique and truly special. It will be the best tribute one can give to the legendary Elvis.
Oscar Chersa has been a child prodigy in music and started singing at age 13. He has participated in several Triestina Song Festival programs. Oscar came second in two different editions of the festival and aced the competition through the popular referendum of Piccolo di Trieste in 1991.
In 1995 he formed the Flaming Stars Band on the occasion of the Elvis Tribute “ELVIS CALL EUROPE” organized at the Hippodrome Disco in Monfalcone (GO). This proved to be the turning point in his career. He did as many as 1800 plus hugely successful shows. Oscar has also contributed to a number of important programs for various television channels.
Oscar featured in hit TV programs like “Sunday In” Rai1, “Carramba che Sorpresa” Rai1, “Dear Friend Elvis” Rai3. He also appeared in the movie “Il Gallo Cedrone” with Carlo Verdone. Oscar also did a stunning performance in Memphis Tennessee in 1997, in front of Graceland where he rendered the song Love Letters.
In The Memphis Gospel Project, Oscar is supported by the ‘Flaming Stars Orchestra’. Included in the repertoire are some songs by Gospel & Spirituals interpreted by Elvis.
According to Oscar Chersa, there are no risks associated with the project. He needs the funding to meet the marketing and other costs as Milan is an expensive city. Oscar wants to get the promotion of the show right as it is the soul of the commerce element of the project. If it is successful, Oscar will be taking the show across Europe and even globally.
