Ottawa, ON – Ontario Safety Standards (OSS), a leading provider of rental water filtration, HVAC and Smart Home services and proud supporter of children’s services is giving back to the community by setting up weekly staff contribution plans in support of the CHEO Foundation.

Announced in concurrence with the Thanksgiving holiday, Ontario Safety Standards corporate staff has prepared 60 children’s gift bags for the hospital, each filled with toys and educational activity materials.

Saeed Torbati, CEO Ontario Safety Standards presents gift bags to Chantal Charbonneau, Director of Annual Giving CHEO

The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre (OCTC), opened in 1974 and now touches the lives of over 500,000 children and youth each year.

CHEO’s emergency department sees an average of 200 emergency visits every day. CHEO/OCTC staff includes more than 3000 medical practitioners, nurses, and volunteers working both full and part-time providing emergency ambulatory services, inpatient and outpatient programs and lifesaving research and more. Some of the hospital’s most recognized programs include pediatric trauma and cardiovascular treatment for both closed and open heart

After a personal experience not long ago, Ontario Safety Standards founder and CEO Saeed Torbati knows first-hand how important the hospital’s services are for the community. During Torbati’s CHEO/OCTC experience, he discovered there can be lengthy wait times for treatment in some areas of the hospital.

“When your child is ill, waiting can become frustrating” explains Torbati. “That is why I decided to establish a charitable wing at OSS Foundation in hopes that our contributions might lessen wait times for families who need treatment”.

“On behalf of everyone at CHEO, I would like to thank Mr. Torbati and the staff at Ontario Safety Standards for helping the children and youth at CHEO/OCTC” said Kevin Keohane, President and CEO of the CHEO Foundation. “The families at CHEO need support, and workplace campaigns are a great way for employees to come together for an important cause… the kids who need CHEO.”
