Two Noovis executives, Tom Napoli and Mike Watts, were selected last February for leadership roles in APOLAN (The Association for Passive Optical LAN), a New-York-City-based industry association composed of manufacturers, distributors, integrators, and consulting companies that are involved in deploying Optical LAN solutions for local, campus and metro area networks.
Napoli, a Noovis co-founder and vice president, was elected to a seat on the APOLAN Board of Directors. He was one of four people nominated for two open board seats. Watts, also a Noovis co-founder and vice president, was appointed to the group’s Technology Committee. The actions were part of association’s annual business as its national meeting, held in Orlando, Fla.
“The addition of the new members and their expertise in infrastructure, integration and distribution will be critical in helping the Association enlighten the enterprise market about the benefits of passive optical LAN,” said Brian O’Connell, director of APOLAN. “Through the combined force of established and new members, the Association will accelerate the use of fiber infrastructure to reduce space, energy and total costs for LANs, and help companies deploy high-performance networks for the modern era.”
“I view our new positions at APOLAN as an affirmation that Noovis is a leading integrator when it comes to GPON technologies,” said Watts.
“Mike was selected to the Technology Committee because of his comprehensive understanding of fiber optic and copper cabling, both from an inside-plant and outside-plant perspective, as well as networking requirements – broadband communities, enterprise systems, government agencies, campus networks and the like,” said Napoli.
“I’m pleased that our guys were selected for leadership positions in our industry’s premiere organization. They offer a refreshingly comprehensive view of a client’s network – understanding the design, installation, and, most importantly, how to support ongoing operations and provide the maintenance necessary to sustain a client’s ever-changing broadband requirements,” said Eric Welty, president of Noovis.
Napoli hopes to use his new position to help advocate for more widespread adoption of fiber-based networks.
“I want to support APOLAN to get the message out on what PON means to a client, whether it be a large building or campus operator,” said Napoli. Our focus is to educate people about how superior it is and I’m honored to work with such a distinguished group like APOLAN.”
