COLUMBIA, SC – The law firm of Bluestein Nichols Thompson & Delgado (BNTD) has announced that partners John Nichols and Allison P. Sullivan were both recently recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine. Nichols was included in the 2016 South Carolina Super Lawyers list and Sullivan was included in the 2016 South Carolina Rising Stars list.
Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area. The result is a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys.
Each year, South Carolina Super Lawyers list recognizes no more than five percent of attorneys in the state. No more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in South Carolina are named to its Rising Stars list.
John Nichols will appear on the South Carolina Super Lawyers list for the seventh consecutive time. A founding member of BNTD, his practice areas include litigation support and appeals, business litigation, personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice and criminal defense. Nichols is a recent recipient of an inaugural G. Dewey Oxner Jr. Mentor of the Year award, was selected for inclusion in the 2015 and 2016 Best Lawyers® in America and was named the “2013 Lawyer of the Year” by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly. He is past president of the South Carolina Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and the South Carolina Bar and South Carolina Association for Justice and has served on a number of committees with the South Carolina Bar.
Nichols has also served on the boards of the Richland Public Library Foundation and the University of South Carolina Coaches versus Cancer. He is a founding member of the Furman University Riley Institute Diversity Leadership Consortium. He also serves on the South Carolina Commission on Indigent Defense.
This is the third year Allison Sullivan has been named to the South Carolina Super Lawyers Rising Stars list. A young attorney who focuses her practice in personal injury, workers’ compensation, wrongful death, whistleblower litigation and business litigation, Sullivan was selected for inclusion in the 2015 and 2016 Best Lawyers® in America for the Columbia Metropolitan Region and has also been recognized by the 2014 and 2015 American Society of Legal Advocates Top 40 Under 40 Litigation Lawyers in South Carolina. She was recently included in the 2016 Columbia Business Monthly Legal Elite of the Midlands. Her past honors include being named the 2014 South Carolina Bar’s Young Lawyer of the Year.
