New Pick to Light Offers Dynamic Automation Scalability from Voodoo Robotics

Texas-based Voodoo Robotics has invented a new sales model for the next generation of Pick-to-Light systems. As described in a recent article published in Robotics and Automation News, Pick-to-Light equipment has traditionally represented a significant fixed capital expense with little consideration for variable use, often driven by seasonality, warehouse/distribution variance, and project management flux. These swings in low or high usage represent a level of waste as sometimes over-purchased lights go unused and wasted.

The new value proposition, according to Trevor Blumenau, CEO of Voodoo Robotics, recognizes that small manufacturers, distribution centers, and 3PL (third-party logistics) companies are seeking flexible, easy-to-learn, and affordable technology solutions that are fully scalable to grow or shrink with any company’s requirements.

The new system from Voodoo includes very economical Pick-to-Light devices which can also manage inventory in the warehouse. These devices are leased on a month-to-month basis, so small manufacturers can reduce capital outlay, paying for only the lights needed (returning those unneeded). The system is the first variable inventory control expense in the industrial market based solely on use and need. With the increasing demand for customizable manufacturing throughout the supply chain, a newer Pick-to-Light technology was needed that pioneers and advances the next generation of cost-effective picking solutions.

Pick-to-Light is a fulfillment technology which uses alphanumeric displays and buttons at storage locations to guide the manual picking of items for shipment.

About Voodoo Robotics:

Voodoo Robotics, (https://voodoorobotics.com) the leading innovator in picking warehouse automation, provides cost-effective technology for warehouse inventory management and order fulfillment solutions. With engineering and robotic expertise, the Texas-based pioneer brings the next wave of state-of-the-art automation to material handling industries.

Voodoo offers a unique lease-based Pick-to-Light system designed to modernize warehouse operations by leveraging the latest IIoT (Industrial Internet-of-Things) technology. The picking hardware integrates effortlessly with existing WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), or ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems allowing distribution centers, warehouses, and 3PLs (third party logistics) to scale operations, only paying for the lights needed each month. This revolutionary approach to leasing Pick-to-Light devices on a month-to-month, pay-as-you-go basis avoids long-term commitments and costly up-front fees.

The company also provides smart, ROI (return-on-investment) driven Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS) with an innovative 3D user interface, compatible with Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Safari. The robotic systems are designed, simulated and run, all using a Warehouse Descriptive Language (WDL), a concept invented by the company.

All of Voodoo Robotics products are patented or patent-pending. Currently the company is attracting best-practice, lean manufacturing focused, systems integrators throughout North America. The company is a proud member of MHI. Follow Voodoo Robotics on Twitter at @VoodooRobotics.
