Monirapps, the Paris-based mobile development studio has announced the recent rollout of its innovative memory game app, Swimon. This latest in a long line of successful mobile applications uses gameplay to help improve memory skill.
Drawing inspiration from the popular 80s electronic game Simon*, in which players had to repeat a series of tones and light in the identical order, the Swimon app uses the same memory skill principle, only with “swipes” instead of buttons. The tones, the colors and animations within the app have been specifically designed to mimic theold-school 8-bit arcade game from back in the 80’s, providing a distinctly nostalgic feel that users are raving about.
Swimon is fast and easy to learn, but very difficult to master. Players must watch the movements carefully, keeping them in mind and repeating them exactly by swiping their finger in the right direction. Each swiping direction is represented by a specific color and sound, and each game is designed to truly challenge the memory skills of the user. Players progress through different levels and various grids that become increasingly bigger and more complex. Unlock new grid packs to discover new themes and collect all the images to win.
In addition to solo play, the Swimon app also features the option to challenge other players within the Google Play Games leaderboard, where they can unlock and compare their achievements. Users can also share their scores on Facebook.
“This game is based on a simple concept, but it’s a real challenge to one’s memory skills,” a company spokesperson said. “It’s the kind of game you just can’t seem to put down. It’s perfect for playing when you have a few moments in the metro, or whiling away the time at home.”
The app is fully translated and works with almost every phone and tablet on the market today, including Android devices as well as those using iOS (iPhone, iPad and iPod touch). The Swimon app is available for download in the Apple iTunes store as well as through Google Play.
