Union County, NJ – Medical nutritionist Nancy Lessner has an innovative new way to educate, motivate and empower kids and teens to eat healthy and avoid toxic foods and drinks with her “Eat Right. Drink Right. Live Right.” series of 7 videos. To spread the word worldwide about preventing and reversing childhood obesity, and to raise money to donate DVDs for kids in need, she recently launched a crowd-funding campaign on IndieGoGo.com.
Lessner’s videos feature amazing and astounding demonstrations that show kids just how much sugar-laden and processed foods they consume every month. They feature a number of children who are disgusted by what they see and realize just how bad popular foods and drinks can be, especially when they learn what’s inside fast foods like chicken nuggets, and in soda and juice drinks. The videos include:
• How Much Sugar Kids and Teens Eat
• The Best and Worst Snacks
• Good and Bad Fast Foods
• How to Read Nutrition Facts Labels
• The Family That’s Doing It Right!
• 20 Great Habits of Healthy Eaters
• 79 Reasons to Eat Healthy
While Nancy and her partner have invested their personal funds to create, shoot and edit the videos, she is looking to raise money to publicize them and institute a program to give DVDs to kids in need who can’t afford them.
“Childhood obesity is a tragic epidemic that affects kids everywhere,” Lessner recently said, “but kids in poorer areas typically need this kind of education and motivation the most.” She added, “Obesity in our precious children can be prevented and reversed, and it all starts with education and motivation of kids and their families.”
The IndieGogo campaign is at: http://IGG.ME/at/nancy.
Crowd-funding is a relatively new way for people to raise money from friends, family and total strangers who believe in the projects they are creating. Says Lessner, “because childhood obesity likely affects 80% of families and kids generally don’t know the basics, they are hopelessly addicted to toxic and addictive foods, drinks and ingredients, and don’t even know it. But they can take control of their lives by quickly and easily learning what foods and drinks are good and which should be avoided.”
On her IndieGoGo page is a short video, in which her passion to help millions of kids and teens clearly comes through. She also has a wide range of “perks” as they call them in the crowd-funding world. Perks are rewards for donations of various sizes, which range from $5 to $5,000. Lessner’s “1 to 1” club and the larger perks are geared to give donors a way to help kids and teens in need get the videos. The videos will be available in early September in three formats (watch online, download to computer, DVD).
