Martial arts legend Sho Kosugi releases new co-authored book to high praise

Yin-Yang Code: The Drums of Tenkai-Bo, book one of a series written by Sho Kosugi and Warren Chaney, has been released in both English and Spanish editions. Sho Kosugi is best known for his work as a Japanese martial artist, often playing ninjas in popular films.

Yin-Yang Code: The Drums of Tenkai-Bo is Kosugi’s latest novel. From the back cover: Against his grandfather’s wishes, an orphaned Japanese student at UCLA returns to his home country following the tragic loss of his close friend and university professor, only to discover a malevolent force that aims to take away everything he has left … and more.

Robert Short, writer, director, and Academy Award Winning makeup effects designer, praised the book: “Yin-Yang Code: The Drums of Tenkai-Bo combines the ancient disciplines of martial arts, philosophy and mysticism of Japan with modern day murder and a plot to uncover untold riches. It is a spellbinding read for aficionados of martial arts and the mysteries of Japan. The book is action packed with amazingly intricate fight sequences and car chases that leave you breathless… Grips you until the last page and leaves you hanging by your fingers tips in anticipation of the next installment.”

Scott Sheldon, Major League Baseball Player, also hailed the book: “The book reminds of the great Sherlock Holmes tales that unlock mysteries behind the clues while seeking hidden treasures, yet to be discovered. The story takes place in America and Japan where I once played professional baseball and the book made me feel that I was back there. The writers, Chaney and Kosugi, have succeeded in creating a fast-paced adventure with carefully crafted word pictures of Japanese culture and history that draw you into the story. For pure entertainment, it’s all there.”

Yin-Yang Code: The Drums of Tenkai-Bo – and its Spanish language counterpart Codigo Yin-Yang: Los Tambores de Tenkai-Bo – is available at, and other fine retailers worldwide. Wholesale orders can be placed through Ingram.
