Kybella is now available in Massachusetts at the offices of board certified plastic surgeon Sean Doherty, MD. Kybella is the revolutionary new treatment for under-chin fat that gained FDA approval in April 2015. It is the first non-surgical treatment for unwanted fat below the chin.
In its release, the FDA noted that “Treatment with Kybella should only be provided by a licensed health care professional, and patients should fully understand the risks associated with use of the drug before considering treatment.”
Kybella (deoxycholic acid), is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe cases of submental fat (fat beneath the chin) in adults. Deoxycholic acid is a substance that the body produces naturally to assist with fat absorption. Kybella works in a similar manner to destroy the fat cells, and the body eventually eliminates the fat. Kybella is now available at Dr. Doherty’s offices in Boston, MA, and Concord, MA.
“We anticipate that Kybella will work for selected clients with relatively elastic skin, who would like to improve their ‘double chin’ without surgery,” Dr. Doherty said, and there is every indication that Kybella will yield good results for the right patients.
The results of clinical trials conducted using Kybella were very encouraging, as over 65% of the participants experienced an improvement in submental fat.
