Inspirational Western Saga Highlights Man’s Partnership with God’s Work

A new release, Horse Creek Trading Post (Redemption Press 2017) by Dr. Jim Burnett, is a family saga of God’s involvement in the lives of several generations of westerners. This prequel to Burnett’s two other inspirational westerns, Miracle at Caller’s Spring Ranch and Return to Caller’s Spring Ranch chronicles the life of the Reese family who left Wales in the late 1790s to come to America and help settle the frontier.

Beginning in eastern Tennessee, the Quaker family set up a homestead and carved out a life in the virgin valley. A generation later, parts of the family moved to Wyoming and started a trading post. Their homestead and trading post became an outpost of heaven as miracles of God’s work in lives took place there.

Dr. Burnett, a pastor, teacher, and writer, who is lead pastor of Willow Pointe Church in Hattiesburg, Miss., drew from his love of horses and cattle, and his twenty-eight years in the ministry in writing this inspirational western. He says, “The purpose of each person is to live for God. He has ordained our times and the place where we live. We are all leaving a legacy.”

Written for children through senior adults who love the West, the book is a story of overcoming adversity, leaving a legacy, and discovering God’s plan for you in the place where you live.
