INDIE FILM ’10 DAYS IN A MADHOUSE’ INSPIRES BUZZ OF NELLIE BLY TO RETURN ON TWICE ON HOLLYWOOD’S BIG SCREEN

“10 DAYS IN A MADHOUSE // TRICOAST WORLDWIDE”
Indie drama, ’10 DAYS IN A MADHOUSE’ sets the standard to honor Nellie Bly in two upcoming Hollywood works.

Los Angeles, CA – December 5, 2017 – Written and directed by Timothy Hines (“War of the Worlds the True Story”, “Earth Angel”), “10 DAYS IN A MADHOUSE” is a 2015 American biographical film encapsulating the life of the first-ever female Journalist, Nellie Bly, world-known for her notorious and brave commitment to work with Blackwell’s Island Insane Asylum.

Based on her sensational book and exposé in  “10 Days In A Mad-House”, Nellie Bly divulges the behind-the-scenes while working at the World Newspaper under Joseph Pulitzer – the fears of going undercover, facing the city’s rapists and abusers, and unveiling the city’s darkest secrets and atrocities.

In consultation with Brooke Kroeger, one of Bly’s modern biographers, Hines created a historical thriller, which shocked audiences on their undercover journey with Bly, as she exposed the brutality and violence of patients within Blackwell’s Island Insane Asylum.

Bly’s historical significance of shining light on such world atrocities and unspoken crimes within Blackwell’s Island Insane Asylum not only shaped today’s world in regards to how the world cares and treats the mentally ill, but also have inspired many, including many filmmakers.

“10 DAYS IN A MADHOUSE” toured theatrically for over five months in the USA during 2016, with the success of Variety placing Hines’ film in the Top 3 Trending Films of the Week during 2015.

Flash forward two years later for two new creations on the big screen inspired from “10 DAYS IN A MADHOUSE” character of Nellie Bly – the indie drama inspires House of Cards alumna, Kate Mara, and Christina Ricci to both be starring as Bly in upcoming Hollywood productions.

We knew her as a Zoe Barnes, journalist of The Washington Herald in Netflix drama series, House of Cards. Barnes’ character, Emmy nominated Kate Mara is set to both executive produce and star in the series based off Bly’s book alongside writer, Sarah Thorp (“Jacob’s Ladder”). Christina Ricci (“The Addams Family”, “Sleepy Hollow”) will star in Lifetime’s movie “Nellie Bly”, with an end date and debut in 2018, Variety reported last week. Alongside Judith Light and Josh Bowman, the Lifetime film will be a fictionalized account of real-life events captured during Bly’s work at Blackwell’s Island Insane Asylum.

Prepare for these new, exciting works make it onto the big screen, capturing Bly’s world significance with Hines’ “10 DAYS IN A MADHOUSE”. Starring Caroline Barry (“Words & Actions”), Christopher Lambert (“Highlander”, “Mortal Kombat”), Julia Chantrey (“Mama”), Alexandra Callas (“A Good Day to Die Hard”), and Kelly LeBrock (“Weird Science”, “Hard to Kill”).
