This year, live events are a hot-‘ticket’ item for holiday gift giving. During the last month or so of the year, some of the usual chart-topping events are pushed down by Christmas-themed musicals, plays, and dance shows. In the two weeks since Black Friday, three such shows have cracked the top-ten best sellers on Ticket Liquidator’s live event ticket exchange, joining the ranks of such perpetual blockbusters as “Wicked,” “The Book of Mormon,” and “The Lion King.”
The “Radio City Christmas Spectacular®,” playing in New York City and on tour, came in at number two. The classic ballet “The Nutcracker,” which plays at venues all across the country including the New York City Ballet®, came in at number three, proving the continued popularity of this holiday tradition. And the newer Broadway-style musical “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas®,” based on the classic book and films, came in at number nine (“Elf the Musical,” based on the new classic Will Ferrell film, was not far behind at number 11).
