November and December are months characterized by many things—by food, by family, by cold weather, by festive décor, and by travel. As much as anything else, they are characterized by shopping—and for many small businesses, the final two months of the year also happen to be the most profitable. According to Grammar Chic, Inc., however, there are multiple ways in which small businesses can leverage the holiday shopping season, even using it to build their e-mail marketing campaigns. Grammar Chic has released a new statement to the press, explaining this unique opportunity.
“For most small businesses, these final months of the year see an increase in Web traffic, and an increase in new and first-time users in particular,” comments Josh Hurst, the Content Marketing Strategist at Grammar Chic, Inc. “In other words, it’s a great opportunity for you to make a strong first impression through your business website, and to convert holiday shoppers into recurring customers.”
A powerful way to do so is through e-mail marketing. “As you have newcomers visit your business website, you really want to push for them to provide you with an e-mail address,” Hurst affirms. “The more e-mails you can capture, the more ways you’ll have to engage with these customers down the road, and ultimately to grow your customer base.”
Many small business websites have a field in which customers can enter their e-mail address to receive newsletters and updates. Hurst suggests adding even more e-mail capture fields. “Have several places where e-mails are captured, and make sure one of them is above the fold—that is, visible without any need to scroll down the site,” he recommends.
The holiday season is also a great time to reconnect with former customers and clients, Hurst notes. “Even if it’s been a while since you put out a company newsletter, now is the best time of the year to put together a great, festive promotion and publicize it to everyone on your e-mail list,” he concludes.
