From 2007 to 2014, Ireland was a net exporter of odoriferous substances. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was less pronounced.
In 2014, France and Germany were among the other main global suppliers of odoriferous substances, and strengthened their positions in the global export structure. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were China (+17% per year) and Singapore (+13% per year).
Ireland’s top 5 trading partners in 2014 were the U.S., Mexico, the United Kingdom, Germany and Spain, with a combined 56% share of Ireland’s odoriferous substance exports. The share of Mexico increased (+6 percentage points), while the share of the U.S. illustrated negative dynamics (-4 percentage points).
