Its primary trading partner was the Republic of Korea, where it supplied 25% of its total non-powered aircraft exports in value terms.
From 2007 to 2014, the U.S. was a net importer of non-powered aircraft. In this period, imports consistently exceeded exports in value terms.
Germany and Israel were among the other main global suppliers of balloons and dirigibles in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Japan (+21% per year) and the U.S. (+8% per year).
In 2014, the United States’ top 5 trading partners were the Republic of Korea, Argentina, New Zealand, France and Switzerland, with a combined 57% share of the U.S. non-powered aircraft exports. The share of the Republic of Korea increased significantly (+24 percentage points). The shares of the other trading partners also illustrated positive dynamics.
