Despite a 27% drop in exports as compared with the previous year, the U.S. still dominates in the global trade of aircraft launching gear, deck-arrestor or similar gear and parts thereof. In 2014, the U.S. exported 1 million units of aircraft launching and similar gear totaling 254 million USD. Its primary trading partner was India, where it supplied 50% of its total aircraft launching gear exports in value terms, accounting for 99% of India’s total imports.
From 2007 to 2014, the U.S. was a net exporter of aircraft launching gear, deck-arrestor or similar gear and parts thereof. Over the period under review, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was less pronounced due to high export prices.
Singapore and France were among the other leading global suppliers of launching and similar gear and its parts in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Spain (+104% per year) and the Netherlands (+4% per year).
In 2014, the United States’ top 5 trading partners were India, France, Malaysia, Japan and Australia, with a combined share 79% of the U.S exports. The share of France increased significantly (+12 percentage points) and the rest of the trading partners of the U.S. showed modest yet positive dynamics.
