Although it experienced a down year in exports, the U.S. continued to lead the way in the global combine harvester-thresher trade. In 2014, the U.S. exported 7,002 combine harvester-threshers totaling 1,166 million USD, 23% under the previous year. Its primary trading partner was Canada, where it supplied 51% of its total combine harvester-thresher exports in value terms, accounting for 96% of Canada’s total imports.
From 2007 to 2014, the U.S. was a net exporter of combine harvester-threshers. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was less pronounced, but did increase over time.
Germany and Belgium were among the other main global suppliers of combine harvester-threshers in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Thailand (+112% per year) and Bulgaria (+112% per year).
The U.S.’s top 5 trading partners were Canada, Australia, China, South Africa and Mexico, with a combined 80% share of the U.S.’s harvester-thresher exports. The share of Canada increased significantly (+17 percentage points), and the shares of the U.S.’s other trading partners also illustrated positive dynamics.
