Gino Giorgi, the Perth-based designer and senior art director has announced that his Kickstarter campaign is live and running now. The campaign has been launched for funding his project Flik. It makes use of 3D mapping technology to automate the process by which smartphone users manipulate photo and video imagery.
“Flik is a truly unique idea that can take smartphone photographic and video experience to a whole new level,” says Gino Giorgi about his latest idea. “We have been developing 3D mapping technology and have produced many fully operational camera app prototypes. We now want to take this technology to standard that has been hitherto not tested so that smartphone photographers can derive a new level of satisfaction and achievement.”
Gino Giorgi has put together a carefully handpicked team of IT experts, designers and marketers who are passionate about digital photography for the project. They have been developing 3D mapping technology and successfully handled many projects. They now want to use advanced 3D mapping techniques to automate and foolproof the process so that smartphone users can capture and manipulate photographic and video imagery.
According to Gino, the advanced processes can be used for separating objects seamlessly from backgrounds, and deleting and changing backgrounds or foregrounds. This can be achieved by simply tapping and swiping the screen. The tap and go camera technology has potential for use in many cool tasks such as selling things online, video conferencing, gaming, social media and more.
There are grand plans in the pipeline for the future but for now, Gino and his team are focused on their short term goal of improving their existing technology and creating a camera prototype that can deliver an exciting photographic user experience on smartphones.
The new Flik app has been designed to give smartphone users access to millions of artistic backgrounds from photos to illustrations to explore and play with. They need financial assistance from Kickstarter contributors to search for artists to join their royalty program. According to Gino, Flik gives users the ability to choose whatever background theme they desire.
The Flik team was the first to introduce 3D mapping software technology to smartphone cameras. They still are among the few if not only team that continues to develop 3D mapping software compatible for smartphone devices.
There are numerous photography apps which provide good effects available on the market but their techniques are derived using masks and filters the results of which are hugely unsatisfactory. The technology they use is a form of artificial intelligence that scrutinizes the scene and processes information when the photo is clicked. It is the only technique that can produce instant effects with automatic “Tap and Go” editing.
Their software automatically builds an invisible 3D depth map that sits behind the photo and contains data of all the distance levels of objects in the scene. This live data allows users to simply touch the screen to make impactful and exciting changes with one tap.
Flik is a tap and go smartphone photo/video background changer developed by Gino Giorgi, the Perth-based designer and senior art director and his team of technology experts. The software will help in taking the smartphone photographic and video experience to a whole new level by improving the world-first 3D mapping smartphone technology.
