GGUSD Promotes Pride in Community with Over 500 Homegrown Employees

Launched in January of 2018, Garden Grove Unified School District’s #GGUSDHomegrown social media campaign highlights the many “homegrown” employees now working in the district. The campaign celebrates employees who attended GGUSD schools as children and loved their experience so much that they returned to work in the district.  More than 500 employees shared their stories, some of which were showcased on GGUSD’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts.

GGUSD Homegrown employees can be found working in a wide range of roles in the district, including teachers, principals, office clerks, custodians, food service workers, community liaisons, accountants, counselors, and more! Some former students have been working in the district for one year, while others have spent more than 30 years working and giving back to the district and schools they loved as children.

Having so many GGUSD graduates return to work in the same district really shows what excellent experiences they had as students. Those homegrown employees share a sense of pride in the district, love for the community, and have deep roots to build meaningful connections with students. Through the campaign, many GGUSD Homegrown employees have expressed their desire to support the amazing district where they grew up, were inspired, and achieved their goals.
